Dr Yasmin Rittau completed her Ph.D. at the University of Sydney in 2002 and had joined CISC as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the High Performance Work Systems group at NUI Galway in November 2002. Dr Rittau holds a B.A. (Hons) in Industrial Relations from the University of Wollongong and a Diploma in Teaching from the Wollongong Institute of Education. Dr Rittau's thesis examined the social partnership between the Federal Australian government and the labour movement during the 'Accord' period between 1983 and 1996, and in particular explored how this national context, union strategy and other factors allowed regional 'unions of unions' to attract employment to their regions. Dr Rittau's case study of these issues in relation to the South Coast Labour Council has been published in Economic and Industrial Democracy (2005) and the Journal of Industrial Relations (2003). She is currently working with Dr Tony Dundon in the development of theory and practice surrounding the fusion of adversarial and collaborative industrial relations systems in Ireland. This work-in-progress has been presented to the British Universities Industrial Relations Association (BUIRA) conference (2004) and the Association of Industrial Relations Academics of Australian and New Zealand (AIRAANZ) conference (2004). In addition to her research activity, Dr Rittau has extensive university teaching experience in employment relations and human resource management.
