Alma McCarthy (BBS with French, MCIPD, PhD) is a Lecturer in Management at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She has taught previously at the University of Limerick and Waterford Institute of Technology. She lectures mainly in the areas of Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, and Human Resource Development. Her research interests include performance management, employee training and development, work-life balance, and multi-rater (360º) feedback systems. She completed her PhD thesis in the human resource development field exploring specifically 360º feedback and appraisal processes. Alma�s publications include: a number of articles in journals such as the Journal of European Industrial Training, the International Journal of Manpower Studies, and the Journal of Vocational Educational Training; papers at national and international conferences including the Irish Academy of Management and the American Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology; and co-authored chapters in edited books. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the American Academy of Management (AoM), the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology (SIOP), and currently serves on the national council of the Irish Academy of Management (IAM).
